Si deseas incluir una imagen (figura, fotografía, gráfico, mapa, etc.) en un trabajo académico siguiendo el estilo Vancouver, debes tener en cuenta tanto la numeración de la imagen dentro del texto como su correspondiente cita y referencia bibliográfica.

1. Inclusión en el texto
Cada imagen debe llevar una numeración consecutiva (Figura 1, Figura 2…) y un título descriptivo que indique claramente su contenido. Justo debajo de la imagen, deberás incluir una nota con la fuente de la que ha sido tomada y una breve mención a su autoría.

Ejemplo de pie de imagen:

Figura 1. Mapa de prevalencia global de la enfermedad. Fuente: adaptado de Smith J, 2022 (15).

2. Cita dentro del texto
En el cuerpo del texto, puedes hacer referencia a la imagen indicando su número:

Como se muestra en la Figura 1, la incidencia global ha aumentado significativamente.

3. Referencia bibliográfica
Deberás incluir la fuente original completa siguiendo el estilo Vancouver en la bibliografía. El formato dependerá del tipo de material (libro, artículo, página web, etc.).

Ejemplo de referencia de una imagen obtenida en un libro:

Smith J. Global epidemiology. 2nd ed. London: Health Press; 2022. p. 45.

Ejemplo de referencia de una imagen tomada de un sitio web:

World Health Organization. Global influenza strategy 2019–2030 [Internet]. Geneva: WHO; 2019 [cited 2025 May 20]. Available from: https://www.who.int/publications/i/item/global-influenza-strategy-2019-2030

If you want to include an image (figure, photograph, chart, map, etc.) in an academic paper using the Vancouver style, you need to consider both the numbering of the image within the text and its corresponding citation and bibliographic reference.

1. Inclusion in the text
Each image should be numbered consecutively (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.) and have a descriptive title clearly indicating its content. Just below the image, include a note with the source and a brief mention of its authorship.

2. Citation within the text
In the body of the text, you can refer to the image by its number:

            As shown in Figure 1, the global incidence has increased significantly.

3. Bibliographic reference
Include the full original source in the bibliography following Vancouver style. The format will depend on the type of material (book, article, website, etc.).

Example of a reference for an image obtained from a book:

               Smith J. Global epidemiology. 2nd ed. London: Health Press; 2022. p. 45.

Example of a reference for an image taken from a website:
